Goldie interview pt 1
I had the privilege of interviewing DJ Goldie and was so happy I did. His energy and enthusiasm is infectious and he is most definitely an excellent role model as he expressed his advice for teenagers who have been brought up in unfortunate childhoods, like himself who was brought up in children’s homes from the age of three.
Goldie will be performing at Pure Science at Kent's new super club with 2500 capacity “Arena” (www.arenalive.co.uk) Ashford, along side Dartford resident 2Shy MC on Saturday 7th November and he was keen to express his love of the music and how he was looking forward to playing.
When I asked how he was feeling about the up and coming re-launch of pure science he replied: the good thing is we can look back on it and celebrate because we can go out there and play some old tunes and some new tunes and people who are a bit more older can appreciate it because we all change but I think the pure science mentality is if your going to get someone to play something in this room, which has got so many different flavours, then you have to get the people who will do it right, get the people who actually stand by that same mentality. With me, people know what their getting!
It is clear that Goldie is very passionate about his music as he describes that it was there for him when no-one or nothing else was. He disclosed how, to him, music never lied and how disastrous his life could have turned out had he not found his love of music as he used it as a form of self expression.
More from Goldie’s interview in next months issue!
